The Custom LW pairs a 5-inch Government-length slide and a full-length guide rod (FLGR) recoil system with a lightweight aluminum-alloy frame, delivering the familiar 1911 profile with reduced weight. Its matte black finish and angled front and rear cocking serrations provide a clean, functional presentation.
Accuracy-focused components include a bushing-fit, match-grade stainless steel barrel. The single-action, hammer-fired system is complemented by a skeletonized, three-hole trigger and a skeletonized commander ring hammer.
Controls and sighting gear are classic and straightforward: a grip safety, a left-side thumb safety, and fixed, dovetailed sights with a front blade and rear notch. Checkered synthetic grips with a diamond relief pattern offer a secure hold.
The pistol is marked "TROY AL USA," indicating Kimber's Troy, Alabama production. Notably, the packaging label referenced "Custom LW Liberty," but the pistol itself is roll-marked "CUSTOM LW," clarifying the model as represented on the firearm.
