The P22 CA configuration brings California compliance to a compact .22 LR platform while retaining key Walther features. It uses a DA/SA blowback action with an external hammer and a captured recoil spring. The fixed 3.42-inch steel barrel is secured with a recessed muzzle nut.
Construction is purpose-built: a black zinc-alloy (Zamak) slide over a flat dark earth polymer frame creates a durable two-tone finish. An integral three-slot accessory rail on the dust cover supports lights or other compatible rail-mounted accessories.
Controls are fully ambidextrous where it matters, including paddle-style magazine releases and slide-mounted manual safety levers. Additional safety measures include an internal automatic safety and a loaded-chamber viewport for quick visual status checks.
Sight alignment is straightforward with a white-dot front blade and a windage-adjustable rear notch. This German-made example carries DE and CIP N proofs along with "CARL WALTHER ULM/DO. MADE IN GERMANY" and "WALTHER ARMS FORT SMITH, AR" importer markings. The slide, barrel, and frame plate have matching serial numbers.
