Built on the M1 platform, this rifle features a gas-operated, rotating-bolt action and an 8-round internal magazine fed by en-bloc clips with automatic clip ejection. It is in standard service configuration with a bayonet lug and U.S.-GI pattern hardwood handguards.
The barrel is Springfield Armory-marked with drawing number F6535448 and date 11-54, placing the rifle in the 1954–1955 manufacturing window. The receiver is forged steel with a parkerized finish, matched by the overall parkerized metalwork.
GI inspection marks include a boxed acceptance cartouche on the left butt and a circled P firing-proof on the grip, with an additional P proof on the barrel. Stock features include an oil-finished hardwood stock, steel buttplate with trapdoor, rear and front sling swivels, and a stacking swivel.
Sighting is by protected front blade and an aperture rear sight with windage and elevation drums. No M1C/M1D sniper configuration or National Match markings are observed.
