- Two 17-round magazines (one is a Magpul PMAG GL9 polymer magazine)
The XR920 platform was introduced in 2021, with the Foundation Series following in 2022. This example uses the crossover configuration: a compact-length slide over a full-size frame to deliver 17+1 capacity while keeping the slide fast and manageable.
The 4.0-inch, match-grade barrel is unfluted, non-threaded, and finished in durable nitride. The nitrided steel slide includes front and rear serrations for confident manipulation and an optic cut with Shadow Systems’ direct-mount, multi-footprint interface. The cover plate has been removed on this pistol.
The polymer frame is set up for control and fit, with wrap-around texture, interchangeable backstraps, an extended beavertail, a double undercut trigger guard, and a molded index pad. A frame accessory rail is present for mounting compatible lights or accessories.
Controls and fire-control components are geared toward duty-ready use: a reversible magazine release, a flat-faced trigger with a blue safety tab, and internal striker safeties with a trigger safety. Fixed steel sights pair a white-dot front with a plain, serrated rear for a clean sight picture.
Manufactured in the USA and marked “MADE IN USA • SHADOW SYSTEMS • PLANO, TX,” the Foundation Series carries an MSRP of $679 and focuses on core performance features without superfluous extras.
