Built in 1959 in the United States, this first-generation Ruger .22 automatic represents the Standard/Mark I series design that set the pattern for Ruger rimfire pistols. The receiver carries crisp rollmarks: "STURM, RUGER & CO. SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A." and "RUGER 22 CAL. LONG RIFLE AUTOMATIC PISTOL."
The pistol uses a fixed barrel and tubular receiver with an internal cylindrical bolt featuring twin rear ears for charging. It operates on a blowback, semi-automatic action and feeds from a 10-round single-stack magazine with a heel-type catch at the butt.
Sighting is straightforward and durable, with a ramped front blade and a fixed rear notch integral to the receiver. Controls include a right-side manual thumb safety marked "F."
Construction is all carbon steel with a blued finish. The 6 inch tapered barrel provides a classic profile, and the black checkered synthetic grips feature the Ruger eagle medallion on the right panel.
