- Savage Arms Model 187S .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
The barrel rollmark reads: "SPRINGFIELD — SAVAGE ARMS — WESTFIELD, MASS., U.S.A. — MODEL 187S — CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE." This Westfield marking places the rifle in the post-1960 Savage production period and ties it to the well-known 6/87/187 tube-fed rimfire family.
It uses a semi-automatic, blowback-operated action with a right-side charging handle. The rifle feeds from an under-barrel tubular magazine with a knurled follower at the muzzle and holds 15 rounds of .22 LR.
Controls and sights are straightforward: a top-tang sliding safety, an unhooded front blade, and an open rear sight with a step elevator for elevation adjustments. These factory-style sights keep the setup clean and practical.
The one-piece hardwood stock features a semi-pistol-grip, a long, slim fore-end, and a black serrated buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches. A small circled letter/number inspector/date stamp is present near the serial, and an "A" prefix is observed at the chamber area. Made in the United States.
