This P238 pairs a matte-black slide and aluminum-alloy frame for a clean, uniform look in a very compact footprint. Vertical serrations on the frontstrap and backstrap add traction without bulk, and the red checkered grip panels provide a distinctive visual contrast.
The sighting system is practical and durable: fixed, factory-dovetailed steel sights with a green-dot front blade and a square-notch rear. Because the sights are dovetailed, replacement or upgrades are straightforward if desired.
Controls are streamlined and familiar, including an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, a standard magazine release, and an external spurred hammer with a half-cock notch. The slide has rear serrations only for a clean profile.
Marked Newington, NH, this example reflects later U.S. production. It uses locked-breech operation, a choice that is uncommon among many historical .380 pocket pistols and sets the P238 apart in its category.
