The FPC's folding design enables easy storage and transport while keeping a mounted optic in place. Folded length is approximately 16 3/8 in, and overall length unfolded is about 30 3/8 in. Weight is approximately 5 lb 1 oz, and the carbine is made in the United States.
The 16.25 in barrel is 4140 steel and threaded 1/2x28 TPI with a thread protector, ready for common muzzle devices. Operation is semi-automatic with a straight blowback system, and an integrated recoil buffer helps manage cycling. Controls include a manual cross-bolt safety and a rear twin-wing charging handle.
The polymer stock incorporates dual magazine carriers, and the M&P-pattern pistol grip uses interchangeable backstraps for fit; a set of three backstraps is included. The carbine accepts double-stack M&P 9mm magazines and is configured for a 21+1 capacity; this rifle ships with four 21-round magazines and one 17-round magazine, with the extended magazines using polymer grip sleeves as noted.
An aluminum handguard with M-LOK slots and a continuous top Picatinny rail provides straightforward attachment points. No sights are installed from the factory. The receiver uses a polymer clamshell housing around a steel receiver tube, and length of pull is 14.5 in, offering a familiar carbine feel.
