Built on the AR-15 platform, the M&P15 Sport II uses a direct impingement operating system with a carbine-length gas setup. The upper receiver is a flat-top Picatinny design and includes a forward assist and ejection-port cover for added practicality. The aluminum-alloy receivers wear a uniform matte black finish.
The 16-inch barrel is threaded and capped with an A2 birdcage flash suppressor. A pinned A2 front sight base with bayonet lug provides a robust front sighting reference, paired with the included polymer flip-up rear sight. The 1:9 twist rate supports a broad range of 5.56 NATO use cases.
Furniture includes a carbine-length, two-piece polymer handguard and an A2-style pistol grip. The M4-style 6-position collapsible stock features a sling loop and provides an adjustable length of pull of approximately 10 to 13.5 inches, allowing a straightforward fit across different shooters and setups.
