Specific Condition Details: The stock has some scuffs and dings, but remains in good shape overall and is not affected by the known salt-wood problem from that era. - Original fitted hard case (tan luggage-style with plush lining)
Built in 1969 (serial suffix S69), this Superposed Grade I reflects the classic St. Louis/Montreal import configuration from the late 1960s. It carries Belgian proof marks on the barrel flats and the correct BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS Mo. & MONTREAL P.Q. MADE IN BELGIUM rollmark, confirming its FN Herstal production.
The 28-inch Special Steel barrels feature fixed chokes S/S and a solid matted rib for a clean sighting plane. A white front bead paired with a mid-bead provides a straightforward two-point sight picture. Chambers are 2 3/4 inches.
Operating features include a break-action layout with automatic ejectors, a tang safety, and a single, gold-colored trigger. Lock-up is tight, and the ejectors are timed, supporting reliable cycling and consistent handling.
The Grade I receiver wears factory scroll engraving over a French gray/coin finish; the trigger guard and other furniture are blued steel. The walnut stock set is checkered with a pistol grip, a beavertail style forend, a ventilated recoil pad, and neutral cast. This example also notes a neutral grip and neutral cast, enhancing versatility for a broad range of shooters.
Designed by John M. Browning and produced by FN Herstal in Belgium, the Superposed remains a benchmark over/under. This Grade I combines the hallmark Belgian build, tasteful factory scroll, and period-correct details in a well-cared-for package.
