Product Description

Browning Superposed Grade I 12 Gauge Over/Under, Belgian 1963, 26 in Vent-Rib Barrels, Fixed Skeet/Skeet Chokes, Single Gold Trigger

This 1963 Belgian-made Browning Superposed Grade I is a clean, well-cared-for 12 gauge with desirable configuration and original accoutrements. It sports 26 in Special Steel barrels with a ventilated rib and solid side ribs, factory fixed Skeet/Skeet chokes (chokes fixed S/S), and a single gold-plated trigger. Classic Grade I scroll engraving and the long-tang, round‑knob stock configuration underscore its period-correct appeal. The original luggage-style fitted hard case and factory booklet are included. The serial suffix S3 denotes the 1963 12‑gauge series.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Specific Condition Notes: The walnut stock and forend are in great shape for their age, with a few light scuffs and dings. Metal surfaces show very little wear and were well maintained. The locking lug retains strong engagement, and the barrel fit is very good. Firing pins appear great, with only slight pitting on the bottom pin. Ejectors are properly timed.

    What’s Included
    • Original luggage-style fitted hard case (tan leatherette exterior, fleece-lined interior)
    • Browning Superposed Shotguns Operation and Care booklet

Belgian FN production for Browning Arms Co. with correct period rollmarks: MADE IN BELGIUM and BROWNING ARMS COMPANY ST LOUIS Mo & MONTREAL P.Q. The Special Steel barrels carry U.S. patent numbers on the barrel flats. The S3 serial suffix identifies the 1963 12-gauge series.

The 26 in ventilated-rib barrels feature solid side ribs and a front bead only (no mid-bead). Chambers are 2 3/4 in, and the chokes are fixed Skeet/Skeet (chokes fixed S/S). Capacity is 2.

The barrels wear a polished blued finish, while the receiver (top, sides, and bottom) is coin/French‑gray (in‑the‑white) with factory Grade I scroll engraving, including rosette-engraved hinge pins, and Browning logo and name on top. Controls include a single, gold-plated trigger and a top-tang manual safety.

The high-gloss walnut stock set shows cut checkering, a round-knob pistol grip, and a Browning buttplate, paired with the long-tang trigger guard. Length of pull is 14.25 in. The stock has a neutral grip with at most a slight RH cast-off.
