It features a receiver-top aperture/peep sight added to the factory iron sight setup and retains the pre-1992 configuration with no cross-bolt safety. A blued steel barreled action marked "Winchester Proof Steel" rounds out this carbine-format Ranger.

This Ranger is the carbine configuration with two barrel bands, a 20-inch round barrel, and a full-length tubular magazine rated for six rounds. The barreled action is blued steel and marked "Winchester Proof Steel," consistent with the period USRAC production.
It was produced at the New Haven, Connecticut facility in the 1990s and is the pre-1992 safety generation with no cross-bolt safety. The rifle measures approximately 38 inches overall and weighs about 6.25 lb (published specs), offering the familiar Model 94 handling in a compact package.
The furniture is straight-grip, uncheckered hardwood with a molded Winchester oval buttplate in black plastic. The forearm is matching hardwood and uncheckered, complementing the blued steel receiver and barrel.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped front blade (without hood) and a barrel-mounted buckhorn rear with elevator. A non-factory receiver-top aperture/peep sight has been installed to provide an alternate sighting option while retaining the factory irons.
