Built on a 1940 Mauser P.08 (code "42") with wartime acceptance markings, this example retains its German WWII provenance while carrying the American Historical Foundation Iron Cross Limited Edition presentation issued in 1997. Waffenamt Eagle/655 proofs are on the right side of the receiver/barrel extension, with the chamber date "1940" and "42" code on the center toggle.
The Iron Cross Limited Edition was a run of just 50 pistols. This pistol shows extensive oak-leaf and scroll engraving on the receiver sides and barrel muzzle band, plus an Iron Cross medallion inlaid in the sideplate. The barrel is also engraved, and matching-style assembly numbers are present on small parts.
Presentation features include gold-colored controls (trigger, takedown lever, magazine release, safety lever, and select screws/pins), smooth high-gloss walnut grip panels, and knurled black toggle knobs. The front strap carries an AHF C-prefix special-edition serial, with dual numbering preserved alongside the original military serial.
Chambered in 9mm Luger with an approximately 4-inch (100 mm) barrel and 8+1 capacity, it retains classic P.08 characteristics: short-recoil, toggle-locked, single-action, striker-fired operation with a manual safety and fixed iron sights (blade front, notch rear integral to the rear toggle link). The package is documented by AHF and accompanied by its fitted presentation display case.
