Built on Colt’s classic carbon-steel frame and slide, this Series 70 Government Model retains the hallmark factory blued finish with polished flats and matte rounds. The rollmarks are correct for the period, including the left-side "COLT’S MK IV/SERIES ’70 GOVERNMENT MODEL .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER" with Rampant Colt and the right-side "COLT’S GOVERNMENT MODEL," along with the Hartford, Connecticut frame address.

Key functional elements reflect the pre-Series 80 firing system with no firing-pin block, preserving the original Series 70 lockwork. The pistol is recoil-operated, locked-breech, and single-action only, with a spur hammer, standard short-tang grip safety, and an arched, checkered (diamond pattern) mainspring housing. Safety features include a left-side manual thumb safety, grip safety, and a half-cock notch.

Upgrades enhance shootability while keeping the 1911’s classic character. An Ed Brown .45 ACP barrel is fitted, and sighting is handled by a 3-dot system with a white-dot front blade and a white-dot adjustable rear target sight. The slide carries vertical rear serrations and a standard-height ejection port.

Ergonomics are complemented by black checkered wrap-around rubber grips with gold-tone Colt medallions, offering a secure, hand-filling hold. This full-size 5-inch configuration maintains the traditional 8+1 capacity in .45 ACP, with eight magazines included to keep it range-ready.
