Made in China and built in the Jing'an factory in Beijing, this Type 56S captures the hallmark features of its era with a stamped steel receiver, magazine-well dimples, and a ribbed stamped top cover. It is the Single Stamp Variant, marked with the GSAD Manhattan Beach, CA import stamp, and identified as a pre-1989 GSAD single-stamp import.
The classic 'spiker' configuration includes the under-barrel folding spike bayonet, an open-ear front sight tower with an open-post front sight, and a tangent rear sight with meter graduations. Its short cylindrical muzzle device with round side ports and stamped receiver construction reflect correct Chinese Type 56S details from the 1980s.
Chambered in 7.62x39 with a 16.3 in barrel, this semi-automatic rifle uses a long-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt. The fixed wood stock, wooden pistol grip, and hardwood upper and lower handguards wear a glossy reddish lacquer finish, providing the correct look and feel for this series. Length of pull is 13.0 in.
This example remains clean and well-kept, with an excellent mirror-finish bore and sharp rifling. It arrives ready for the range or the rack with three steel 30-round magazines, an installed olive-green web sling.
