The SCAR 16S RCH configuration retains the reciprocating charging handle and pairs it with ambidextrous controls, including the safety/selector and magazine release. This layout offers familiar SCAR ergonomics with the legacy RCH setup specified by FN on this series.
The operating system is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt, supported by a two-position adjustable gas regulator. This proven system manages 5.56x45mm NATO reliably while keeping the action clean.
Construction centers on a monolithic aluminum upper receiver with a full-length numbered/index-marked Picatinny top rail and rail sections at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. The lower receiver is polymer, finished in black to match the upper. The rifle includes folding iron sights: a protected front post and a rear aperture with elevation and windage drums.
The 16.25 inch threaded barrel carries a 1:7 twist and is fitted with a muzzle brake/compensator. Chambering is 5.56x45mm NATO with a 30+1 capacity. The stock is a right-side folding, telescoping, 6-position adjustable unit with a rubber buttpad for a solid shoulder interface.
Markings include the FNH USA Fredericksburg, VA importer mark, FN Herstal Belgium SCAR 16S 5.56x45 roll marks, FN logo on the receiver, and a 5.56x45 1:7 barrel stamp. The factory box label serial matches the receiver, and the rifle is equipped with an installed aftermarket rubberized finger-groove pistol grip.
