The MARS-LS combines LMT's short-stroke gas piston operating system with a monolithic upper that uses a two-bolt quick-change barrel interface. The full-length, T-marked top rail (T2–T30 visible) provides continuous alignment across the receiver and handguard, while M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock offer direct accessory mounting.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the selector, magazine release, and bolt catch/release. Integrated QD sling sockets are built into both the upper and the stock. The 6-position collapsible stock and a listed 14.5-inch length of pull support a comfortable fit, and the rubber overmolded ergonomic pistol grip with multiple finger grooves and a palm swell provides a firm hold.
The 16-inch barrel features a 1:7 twist rate and a threaded muzzle, with a multi-port muzzle brake/compensator installed. An ejection port cover and forward assist are present. Capacity is listed at 30+1 with standard 5.56 magazines.
Construction is centered on an aluminum receiver with a hardcoat anodized finish. The bolt and carrier are marked "LMT," and the upper shows US and CA patent numbers roll-marked on the side. This rifle is made in the USA and includes flip-up sights and a QD-equipped two-point sling.
