Ruger Speed-Six DAO .357 Magnum Stainless, 2.75 Inch Heavy Barrel, 1986 Production
This Ruger Speed-Six is the double-action-only stainless variant with a 2.75 inch heavy barrel and a round-butt grip frame. Built in 1986 and marked by the 161 serial prefix range for late, mid-1980s production, it combines durable stainless construction with fixed, duty-style sights and a spurless bobbed hammer. It comes with its Ruger factory box, manual, an uninstalled Ruger-logo rubber grip, and a spare hammer component.
The DAO configuration with a spurless hammer, transfer-bar safety, and fixed sights reflects a purpose-built design. The heavy-profile barrel with a partial underlug and the six-flute, six-shot cylinder are classic Speed-Six features. The one-piece, no-sideplate stainless frame and polished stainless finish add strength and corrosion resistance while keeping maintenance straightforward.
Factory-style details include a ramped front sight and an integral top-strap rear notch for a clean sight picture. The ejector rod has a knurled tip, and the round-butt grip frame wears checkered walnut grips with Ruger medallions. The overall package is compact, robust, and chambered for .357 Magnum with a 6-round capacity.
As a member of Ruger’s Six Series, this example represents the late-production stainless DAO configuration from the 1980s. The included Ruger factory box and model-family instruction manual, along with the extra grip and spare hammer component, round out a well-documented revolver with useful extras.
