Built on Colt’s medium E-frame, this Official Police is configured with a six-round fluted cylinder and a double-action/single-action system. It incorporates Colt’s Positive Lock hammer block safety. Chambering is .32-20 WCF, a pre-war-only offering for the Official Police that was discontinued during WWII.
The 6-inch tapered, round-profile barrel with a narrow top flat pairs with fixed sights: a half-moon front blade and a frame-integral rear notch. This setup reflects the period-correct duty configuration favored in the pre-war era.
Carbon steel construction is finished in a high-polish pre-war blued finish across the frame and cylinder. Features include an unshrouded ejector rod with a knurled/mushroom head, checkered walnut service stocks with nickel Colt medallions, and Rampant Colt and Colt address/patent rollmarks. The left-side barrel legend reads “COLT POLICE .32-20,” a non-standard marking for the Official Police that may indicate a replacement or factory mis-stamp (see photos). There is no lanyard ring, as noted.
Manufactured in the USA in 1931, this revolver carries assembly letters "T" and "D" on the crane/yoke. Colt factory correspondence dated April 23, 1964 states shipment to a Colt jobber in Denver, Colorado, adding clear provenance to this collectible pre-war example.
