This 2021 Ruger AR-556 is a USA-made, AR-15–pattern semi-auto configured with practical upgrades and useful included accessories. It features a cold hammer-forged 16 in 4140 chrome-moly barrel with a 1:8 RH twist, a forged flat-top upper with Picatinny rail, and a collapsible stock. The rifle comes outfitted with a mounted 2.5–10x40 scope and a rail-mounted laser, plus a flip-up rear sight and a two-piece, carbine-length drop-in handguard that provides Picatinny rails at 12 and 6 o'clock (with numbered T-slots) and smooth/vented side panels.

The forged flat-top upper receiver includes a Picatinny rail and shows a keyhole forging mark. The receiver is marked "RUGER MAYODAN, NC USA" with the Ruger phoenix crest and a QR code, and it incorporates the dust cover, forward assist, and brass deflector. Both receivers are 7075-T6 aluminum with a Type III hard-coat anodized finish.
The 16 in barrel is 4140 chrome-moly steel, cold hammer-forged, and cut with M4 feed ramps. It uses a carbine-length gas system with a fixed A2-style front sight base. The muzzle is threaded 1/2x28 and fitted with an A2 birdcage flash suppressor.
This rifle is outfitted with a two-piece, carbine-length drop-in handguard that provides Picatinny rails at 12 and 6 o'clock (with numbered T-slots) and smooth/vented panels at 3 and 9 o'clock. A grip-pod style vertical foregrip is installed, and the aftermarket polymer pistol grip adds a beavertail profile without the A2 finger groove. The collapsible 6-position stock includes a rear sling loop and a textured buttplate.
Optics and sights are ready to use: a 2.5–10x40 variable scope is mounted to the receiver rail, and a rail-mounted laser module is attached to the scope. Iron sights consist of a fixed A2 front paired with a flip-up polymer rear. The rifle accepts AR-15 pattern detachable magazines and is configured for a 30+1 capacity with the included PMAG.
