Sighting equipment is classic S&W: a ramped front sight with a red/orange insert for visibility and a micrometer-adjustable square-notch rear. The topstrap has a longitudinally serrated rib to help cut glare and refine the sight picture.
The controls are the standard S&W pattern with a checkered cylinder latch and checkered hammer spur. The smooth-face forged trigger (pre-MIM) and the absence of an internal key lock reflect the period-correct build of this -3 variant.
Pachmayr Presentation Compac rubber grips are installed, offering a compact rubber profile well-suited to the Model 66's short barrel configuration. The revolver is chambered for .357 Magnum and also accepts .38 Special ammunition.
