This Combat Commander is part of the pre-Series 80 line, with the 70SC serial prefix consistent with that production. Built on the 1911 platform and sized for the Commander profile, it uses a 4.25 in barrel and a Commander-length slide over a steel frame, all finished in a matte silver/nickel tone.
The slide carries rear-only vertical cocking serrations and an unlowered, unflared ejection port, reflecting period-correct configuration. Factory-style markings include the right-side rollmark "COLT'S COMBAT COMMANDER MODEL" and the left-side "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBER .45" with the Colt pony logo. The frame is marked "COLT'S PT. F. A.
MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." and the barrel hood is marked "COLT .45 AUTO."
Sighting is straightforward with fixed sights. Controls and ignition parts follow the Commander pattern, including a standard spur (GI-style) hammer, a short trigger, and the standard 1911 thumb and grip safeties. Operation is single-action, semi-automatic.
