The Mosquito’s DA/SA action with decocking lever mirrors SIG P-series controls, including the takedown lever and slide catch, giving it familiar handling in a reduced-size trainer. The exposed, spurred hammer and external extractor complement its straightforward, reliable blowback design.
The polymer frame wears black SIG SAUER-logo grips and integrates a multi-slot accessory rail on the dust cover for lights or other compatible accessories. Three-dot iron sights with yellow dots (blade front, notch rear) provide a clear, high-contrast sight picture.
This Threaded-Barrel variant uses a 4.9-inch steel barrel and ships with the factory thread adapter/protective cap installed. Capacity is 10+1 rounds via the single-stack metal magazine, and the pistol features a black finish throughout.
Markings include the MOSQUITO model name, "Made in Germany," SIG SAUER INC., EXETER-NH importer marking, German proof marks, and the German "AH" date code. The Mosquito line has been discontinued and later continued on the market as the GSG FireFly, underscoring its enduring appeal as a dedicated .22 LR trainer.
With mild .22 LR recoil, familiar SIG-style controls, and manageable dimensions, this pistol is a practical first choice for novice shooters to get used to a firearm while maintaining the feel of a classic SIG platform.
