Product Description

    Sig Sauer P228 W. Germany‑marked 9mm (1993) — Compact DA/SA, Stamped Slide, Tritium Night Sights, German Proofed

This West-Germany-marked Sig Sauer P228 is a 1993 compact 9mm with the classic P-series control layout, stamped carbon-steel slide with pinned breech block, and an aluminum-alloy, hard-anodized frame. It wears dovetailed tritium night sights marked "TG-H3" and retains the non-railed dust cover profile. German proof marks are present, and the slide is rollmarked "MADE IN W. GERMANY," with matching serial numbers on the slide and frame and SIGARMS Inc., Exeter, NH import marking.

SIG Sauer continued using the "Made in W. Germany" rollmark for several years after reunification in October 1990, generally through 1994–1995, to use existing stamping dies and tooling. This example reflects that period, pairing the West Germany slide rollmark with a 1993 manufacture date. Next to the date code you will find the standard German proof house stamps, including the Eagle-N definitive nitro-proof and the Kiel proof house nettle leaf symbol.

    What’s Included
    • Sig Sauer P228 West German 9mm pistol
    • Two 13-round magazines (one Mec-Gar, Made in Italy, as identified in the photos)

The P228’s stamped carbon-steel slide uses a transverse pin to retain its breech block, matching the design of early German-made P-series pistols. Dovetail sight cuts secure the installed tritium night sights, and the frame features the classic, non-railed dust cover profile associated with early 1990s production.

The aluminum-alloy frame has a hard-anodized finish and the familiar P-series controls: separate takedown lever, decocking lever, and slide catch. A standard left-side button magazine release feeds a double-stack magazine well, and factory-textured polymer grip panels provide a solid hold in a compact footprint.

Sight bodies are marked "TG-H3," with green tritium inserts front and rear for low-light visibility. The sights are dovetailed for secure mounting and straightforward replacement if desired.

German proof marks are present on the barrel and frame, including the Eagle-N high-pressure nitro-proof and the Kiel proof house nettle leaf symbol near the date code. The slide carries the "MADE IN W. GERMANY" rollmark, and the pistol bears the SIGARMS Inc., Exeter, NH importer mark. Slide and frame have matching serial numbers. The compact 3.9 in barrel complements the DA/SA, short-recoil action with a firing pin block and decocking lever.
