The 85BB is the single-stack counterpart to the double-stack Model 84, noted here with a 9+1 capacity specification and the compact 3.8 in barrel. It uses a straight-blowback, DA/SA system with a frame-mounted manual safety and half-cock notch. The external spur hammer and left-side magazine release round out a controls layout that will feel familiar to Beretta users.
Construction combines a blued open-top slide with rear-only serrations and a hard-anodized aluminum alloy frame. The trigger guard is rounded, with maker/address markings on the slide and model/caliber markings on the frame and barrel hood. Sighting is straightforward and fast, with a ramped front blade carrying a white dot and a square-notch rear.
This BB-generation example retains the frame-mounted safety without a decocker and features the white-dot sight arrangement associated with this revision. Italian proof marks confirm origin, and the pistol carries a CHE-prefix Swiss tracking/import stamp. CHE denotes Switzerland (Confoederatio Helvetica); many recent 84BB/85BB imports bearing this mark originated from Swiss law enforcement lots.
Beretta typically stamps the factory serial number on the frame, often near the dust cover or grip area. For this 85BB generation, the original serial sequence uses an alphanumeric format with a Y prefix and Y suffix on the frame. The installed checkered wood grips with PB medallions provide a classic look and secure purchase, while the original factory polymer panels are included for those who prefer the stock configuration.
