Built in the United States by Marlin Firearms Co., this Model 99 Automatic represents the early, first-issue configuration that led into the Model 60 series. The barrel rollmark shows the New Haven address, and production timing places it in the pre-GCA era commonly exempt from serial-number requirements.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic blowback action in .22 LR with right-side ejection and a right-side charging handle. Its tube-fed under-barrel magazine offers approximately 14+1 capacity and is serviced via a knurled front cap, with a yellow follower witness slot for quick visual checks.
The 22 in Micro-Groove barrel is a hallmark Marlin feature from this period, designed to deliver consistent small-bore performance. Factory iron sights include a hooded ramp front and an open rear sight with an elevator ramp, offering clear, adjustable aiming references.
The receiver top is cut with 3/8-inch tip-off scope grooves. A Tasco 4x32 riflescope is already mounted in tip-off rings, providing a simple, effective sighting solution while retaining the option to use the irons as desired.
The hardwood stock combines classic styling and practical touches: a fluted, raised comb; white line spacer; and a black checkered metal buttplate with the Marlin logo. Length of pull measures 13.5 in for a comfortable, traditional fit.
