The SA M-7 uses a milled Type 3-style steel receiver with long lightening cuts on both sides, delivering the robust feel associated with this pattern. Selector markings are "S" and "F," and the rifle accepts standard AK-pattern 7.62x39 magazines with a noted 30+1 capacity. The gun is made in Bulgaria and bears the Arsenal Las Vegas, Nev., U.S.A. importer/manufacturer marking.
The 16.3-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged, chrome-lined, and threaded at the muzzle. A multi-port, two-chamber brake is installed, and the front sight base includes a detent plunger. The long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt provides the classic AK operating pattern.
Sights are traditional AK: an open post front and a tangent rear sight leaf graduated 1–8 (to 800 m). A left-side AK-pattern optics side rail is installed on the receiver for users who prefer side-rail-compatible optics solutions.
The rifle is customized with an aftermarket wood furniture set, including a fixed buttstock with a left-side rear sling swivel, matching wood handguards, and a checkered wood pistol grip. Length of pull measures 13 inches. A manual safety selector is present, and the cleaning rod is not installed.
