The USP Compact Variant 1 uses a DA/SA, hammer-fired, short-recoil Browning-type tilting barrel system with a bobbed hammer. The V1 control layout provides a left-side safety/decocker, and the modular control-lever system allows conversion among USP trigger/lever variants if desired.
The 3.6-inch barrel is polygonal-rifled and cold-hammer-forged. The compact-specific recoil system employs a flat spring with a polymer buffer. This configuration is purpose-built for the USP Compact series.
Construction features include a fiber-reinforced polymer frame and a slide finished in HK's Hostile Environment nitrocarburized treatment. The ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release supports either hand, and capacity is 13+1 with the included magazines.
Sighting equipment consists of a fixed front blade with a white dot and a fixed rear square-notch. The extractor doubles as a loaded-chamber indicator, and the dust cover carries HK's proprietary universal accessory rail.
Markings include CIP "N" nitro proof, DE country code, the HKI Columbus, GA import mark, and HK's two-letter date code "CG." The pistol is made in Germany and part of the USP Compact series.
