The Mod. 92A1 is a DA/SA, short-recoil, locked-breech pistol with a tilting-block system, built on a durable aluminum-alloy frame and finished in Beretta's Bruniton. Its open-top slide with rear serrations and external extractor supports reliable cycling and straightforward manipulation.
Controls and safety features include an ambidextrous slide-mounted manual safety/decocker and an automatic firing-pin block, paired with an exposed hammer. The pistol is equipped with 3-dot sights: a dovetailed white-dot front and a dovetailed white-dot rear that is windage-adjustable.
The dustcover hosts an integrated MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail with two cross-slots for mounting compatible accessories. An internal recoil buffer and a captive recoil spring assembly are incorporated to support the operating system. Additional functional touches include textured black polymer grips with Beretta medallions and a lanyard loop at the heel.
Markings confirm Italian manufacture: "PIETRO BERETTA GARDONE V.T. – MADE IN ITALY" and "BERETTA USA CORP. ACKK. MD." The frame bears a PB stamp forward of the trigger guard, and the right-rear of the slide shows the IT22 marking. This example has matching serial numbers on the slide and frame and lacks a magazine disconnect, allowing the pistol to fire without a magazine inserted.
