What's Included
- Mendi Percussion Pocket/Overcoat Pistol, .36 caliber (kit-built)
Built from a kit rather than assembled at the factory, this pistol shows custom handwork, including hand-cut checkering on the grip and incised border lines at the butt. The one-piece hardwood stock complements the compact overcoat format.
Its single-shot percussion muzzleloading system uses a patent/bolster breech with a top-mounted nipple and an external center hammer. A brass bead front sight is fitted, with no rear sight, in keeping with the pocket/overcoat pattern.
The 3.5 in octagonal steel barrel and blued finish present the classic styling of 19th-century pocket pistols in a modern reproduction. Scroll motifs on white-metal side plates and oval escutcheons add visual detail.
Markings include MENDI on the barrel, the MADE IN SPAIN export mark, and an oval maker/inspection cartouche, confirming Spanish Eibar manufacture. The breech and barrel carry non-matching serial numbers (barrel 4232; breech 4252).
