The New Englander is a single-shot .50 caliber black powder rifle built on a percussion cap sidelock action with an external hammer and a single trigger. Its 26-inch round blued steel barrel and 13.75-inch length of pull deliver a traditional, well-balanced muzzleloading setup.
The barrel carries an under-rib, and the included wooden ramrod with metal tip is installed beneath it. Ignition is via percussion cap on a standard nipple, consistent with the model’s sidelock design and straightforward operation.
The walnut half-stock is fitted with a steel buttplate and features the T/C oval medallion in the forend. The sidelock plate is case-colored and factory engraved with scrollwork, adding a distinctive Thompson/Center touch without departing from the rifle’s utilitarian roots.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped front sight. The rear open sight is not present due to the scope base. A Bushnell Sportview 4x32mm scope is set up on a one-piece base marked "9940" with rings, providing a clear, simple duplex aiming solution.
