This 1968 Ruger Model 44 is a pre-prefix production carbine confirmed by Ruger serial history. It follows the standard carbine configuration and is rollmarked "RUGER CARBINE .44 MAGNUM CAL." with the Ruger eagle. As Ruger’s first production rifle (introduced in 1961), this .44 Magnum semi-auto combines classic 1960s manufacture with the power and utility that made the model a standout. It comes equipped with factory iron sights and a mounted Tasco 3-9x32 scope for ready use.

    • Scope Rings: Weaver USA scope rings (installed)
    • Scope Bases: Scope bases (installed)

Built in 1968, this Model 44 is a pre-prefix example from the 1960s era, aligning with Ruger’s early production timeline for the platform (1961–1985). It is the standard carbine configuration, not the RS, International, or Sporter variants, and carries the correct "RUGER CARBINE .44 MAGNUM CAL." rollmark with the Ruger eagle.

The carbine uses a semi-automatic, gas-operated system with a short-stroke piston and rotating bolt. It features a fixed 4-round tubular magazine with a bottom loading port, giving a 4+1 capacity. A cross-bolt safety provides a straightforward control layout consistent with the model’s design.

Construction is classic Ruger of the period: an 18.5-inch steel barrel and blued steel receiver paired with a walnut stock. The stock has a straight comb and curved metal buttplate, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. A barrel band with an integral front sling swivel and a rear sling stud support field carry.

Sighting equipment includes factory iron sights with a ramped front blade and a folding rear leaf. This rifle also comes with a Tasco 3-9x32mm scope mounted in Weaver USA rings on installed bases, providing variable magnification while preserving the carbine’s practical handling.
