Made in the United States by Savage Arms for Lend-Lease, this No. 4 Mk I* carries clear U.S. PROPERTY markings and aligns with December 1943 wartime production. The Mk I* variant reflects period simplifications, including the distinctive bolt-release notch, while retaining the Lee–Enfield’s cock-on-close operation.
The action is the classic push-feed, cock-on-close Lee–Enfield system with a left-side safety lever. Feeding is via a detachable 10-round magazine and the rifle is typically loaded with chargers, as was standard for the No.4 platform.
Sighting is through a receiver-mounted aperture rear matched to a protected front blade with squared ears. The front nose piece incorporates the No.4 pattern bayonet boss, consistent with this model’s wartime configuration.
The rifle wears a full-length hardwood stock complemented by a separate, longitudinally grooved top handguard. Hardware includes two barrel bands, sling swivels, and an alloy buttplate with a storage trap. The 25.2-inch steel barrel and a 12.75-inch length of pull round out the handling characteristics.
