The polished blued finish over a carbon-steel frame and cylinder anchors this recent blued reintroduction of the Python. Left-barrel rollmarks read "PYTHON .357" over ".357 MAGNUM," and the right side of the frame carries the Colt rampant-pony logo.
The 6-inch carbon-steel barrel uses a vented rib with rectangular lightening slots and a full-length underlug. Sighting is handled by an adjustable rear and a ramped front sight with an orange/red insert; the front sight is replaceable.
The six-shot fluted cylinder includes a knurled ejector rod and non-recessed chambers, with Colt’s cylinder latch for operation. The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth-faced trigger and a checkered hammer spur.
Factory markings include a 2D data-matrix on the left side of the frame and a single-letter inspection stamp "T" on the crane cut. The revolver is chambered in .357 Magnum and is also compatible with .38 Special.
