The Model 788 action uses a nine-lug, rear-locking bolt within a rigid tubular receiver, a design known for secure lockup and consistent engagement. The right-hand bolt features a round knob, and the receiver is factory drilled and tapped, now wearing a one-piece base and rings for the included Leupold M8 2.5x IER scope.
The 22-inch carbon steel barrel and matching blued receiver present a classic field-ready configuration. The rifle was produced in the United States and bears the Remington "REP" proof in an oval with inspection symbols along with a diamond cartouche marked "DZ 63."
Stocked in light-colored hardwood, the sporter profile stock includes a rubber recoil pad and a front sling-swivel stud. Length of pull measures 13.3 inches, and a manual safety is fitted to the action.
Chambered in .308 Winchester, the Model 788 uses a detachable magazine design with a 3+1 capacity. Iron sight provisions include a front sight ramp base (blade missing) and no rear sight; the rifle is currently set up for the installed fixed 2.5x scope.
