Built on HK’s MP5-type welded, stamped-steel receiver, this SP5 retains the classic roller-delayed blowback system while being configured as a compact SBR. The receiver, finish, and controls reflect the German factory build, and the conversion preserves the platform’s handling and reliability characteristics without altering its core operating system.
The barrel is HK’s standard 8.86 in length with both the factory 3-lug interface and 1/2x28 threads, protected by an installed thread protector. Rifling is 6-groove, right-hand. Sights are the correct hooded front post and adjustable diopter drum rear, giving the user precise, repeatable indexing.
Ergonomics and controls are true to type, with a left-side charging handle, a paddle-style magazine release paired with a push-button release, and a manual safety. The installed Choate Tool side-folding stock locks up for a compact footprint and provides a 14.0 in length of pull when deployed.
The forend is a polymer railed forearm with Picatinny slots at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock and an attached vertical foregrip for enhanced control. A clamp-on Picatinny HK claw optics rail is installed on the receiver for mounting compatible optics. A Magpul SL handguard for MP5/SP5 is included uninstalled, offering an easy swap to a different forend style if desired.
Proofs and markings include the German CIP N proof, the Ulm antler proof, and a 2020 CA date code, with import markings from HK Inc., Columbus, GA. The package includes two 30-round metal magazines marked Made in Germany and one translucent ETS 40-round magazine, plus both an HK-branded soft case and the original case, sling, and factory manual.
