The PTR 91 GIR follows the HK G3/HK91 pattern with a stamped steel receiver and a roller-delayed blowback action. It is built by PTR Industries in the USA and uses a SEF-style metal lower with color-coded selector markings. The welded receiver-length Picatinny rail provides a rigid, integral mounting surface along the top of the receiver.
The 18 inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a pronged flash suppressor. Sighting is handled by a hooded front post and a rotary drum diopter rear sight. The forward cocking handle and selector safety maintain the familiar HK-style manual of arms.
Furniture is surplus-style green polymer, including a wide/tropical G3 polymer handguard, a green polymer pistol grip, and a fixed A2-profile stock with a rubber buttpad. Length of pull is 14.5 inches, offering a traditional, stable shoulder fit.
This rifle is chambered in .308 Winchester and is also compatible with 7.62×51 NATO. It uses standard HK G3/HK91-pattern magazines and accessories, and has a 20+1 capacity with included magazine.
