This exceptional Inland Mfg M1 Carbine is in Very Good condition, showing light signs of prior use and handling. The bore is excellent. The furniture and finish are well-preserved. This semi-automatic rifle has a blued finish and a wood stock/grip. It features a front fixed and rear adjustable sight/optic.
This specific gun is from the 1943 production year and does not include a magazine. The M1 Carbine was originally requested by the US Army in 1938 as a compact and lightweight shoulder arm to replace service handguns for second-line troops. It fires .30 caliber ammunition of moderate power, making it simpler to train users to fire accurately. Many companies submitted their designs for US Army trials, but the winner was eventually Winchester. During the period of 1942-1945, more than 6 million carbines were manufactured, and they saw action not only during WWII but also during the Korean and early stages of the Vietnam War.
