Presenting a Springfield M1896 Carbine in excellent condition, showing faint signs of any prior handling or use for its age. The bore condition is equally excellent. This bolt action rifle is chambered in the historic .30-40 Krag caliber and offers a 5+1 capacity. The 22" barrel is finished in blued steel (95%), while the stock and grips are crafted from solid wood. The rifle is equipped with an antique rear adjustable aperture sight and a front fixed post sight.
Included in the sale is a cleaning kit, conveniently located inside the buttstock. Please note that the original factory box or case is not included.
Manufactured in 1897, the M1896 Carbine succeeded the Model 1873 trap-door rifles and played a significant role in the American-Indian wars, the Spanish-American war, and the Philippine-American war.
