HQ: Soviet Union (present-day Russia)

Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Baikal brand) was founded in 1942 by the State Defense Committee in the Soviet Union (present-day Russia). In 2013 it merged with Izhmash to form Kalashnikov Concern, and Baikal continues as a civilian hunting brand within Kalashnikov, while in the U.S. market during the mid-2000s its shotguns were imported under Remington’s “Spartan” label, a co-branding that has since ended. Its defining legacy is rugged, affordable hunting shotguns.
