Imperial Tula Arms Plant of Russia entered rifle magazines in 1960 as part of its AKM program, first producing star-stamped ribbed steel 30-round 7.62×39 magazines and later serving as a principal Soviet producer of polymer AK‑74 magazines. Known for the five-pointed star factory mark, Tula’s rifle magazines include the orange-brown AG‑4 “bakelite”-type and phenolic-composite constructions that became synonymous with its Kalashnikov output, and its early 7.62×39 steel AKM magazines are relatively scarce.
