Carcano was the umbrella name for Italy’s family of state-issue bolt-action service rifles introduced in 1891 and designed by Salvatore Carcano. Production is long discontinued, and there is no standalone Carcano-branded manufacturer today. Its legacy rests on the Mannlicher-Carcano rifles and carbines that armed Italy in World War I and World War II, most commonly in 6.5×52mm and later 7.35×51mm.
