Zbrojovka Brno vz. 98N 8mm Mauser Bolt-Action Rifle – Post-War Czech K98k Variant with Bayonet & Sling
The vz. 98N is a scarce, post-WWII Czech iteration of the German K98k, prized by collectors for its transitional features and limited production. This 8mm Mauser example combines wartime Mauser design with Czech craftsmanship, a bent bolt handle, and a unique stamped winter trigger-guard. Rebuilt by Samco Global Arms for the U.S. market, it retains a clean, 24-inch barrel, crisp 4-groove rifling, and authentic Czech rampant-lion proofs.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling. Minor, superficial scratches and small blemishes are visible on the blued surfaces, consistent with light service and the noted restoration.
Bore Condition: Good – Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks. The bore is bright and shiny from chamber to muzzle.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling – Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

The vz. 98N keeps the proven Mauser action while adding post-war Czech updates such as a hooded front blade sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. The stamped winter trigger-guard, specific to this model, allows gloved operation and instantly identifies the rifle to collectors.
A beech semi-pistol-grip stock with a side sling slot and cupped steel butt-plate provides the classic Mauser handling profile. The short upper hand-guard mirrors the K98k length, retaining the rifle’s balanced feel and original look.
Receiver markings were scrubbed at the factory, yet Czech rampant-lion proofs remain clear on the barrel and receiver ring. An import stamp on the barrel denotes “SAMCO MIA FL VZ-24 8MM MAU,” confirming the rifle’s journey to the U.S. through Samco Global Arms.
Non-matching serial numbers are typical of vz. 98N rifles that underwent arsenal refurbishment, and this example is no exception. The restoration has preserved the blued finish, protected the bore, and ensured reliable function while keeping period-correct components intact.
