Wartime-built in 1944 at BSA-Shirley (M47C), this Lee-Enfield No.4 Mk I is a .303 British, 10-round bolt-action rifle with the correct No.4 Mk I bolt-head catch and a milled micrometer-style rear sight. The butt-socket is marked to BSA-Shirley and dated 1944 with a P-prefix serial, confirming its WWII manufacture. It retains hallmark No.4 features including the integral charger bridge, two-piece hardwood stock with butt-trap, and bayonet interface for the No.4 spike bayonet.

Bore Overall Condition: Poor - Noticeable dirt, stains, significant corrosion or damage.
Bore Rifling: Poor Rifling - Rifling heavily worn or filled with fouling or debris.
Specific Condition Notes: The surfaces are very rusted and worn. It seems to function; however, the firing pin spring may need to be replaced. It is well-suited for restoration.

Manufactured in 1944 and marked M47C, this rifle is a correct BSA-Shirley No.4 Mk I with a P-prefix serial on the butt-socket, tying it to British wartime production. The Mk I bolt-head catch is present, distinguishing it from the later Mk I* pattern.
It uses the .303 British cartridge and the classic Enfield cock-on-closing, rear-locking bolt action with a turned-down bolt handle. An integral charger bridge supports stripper-clip loading into the detachable 10-round magazine system.
Sighting equipment is the desirable milled, micrometer-style ladder rear sight with a screw-adjustable slide, paired with a protected front post set within square ears. This iron-sight setup is consistent with No.4 service configuration.
The two-piece hardwood stock includes upper handguards and a metal buttplate with a trap door leading to the butt-trap for an oiler/pull-through. Additional service features include sling swivels, a front stacking swivel, and the No.4 spike-bayonet lug/boss. The barrel measures 25.2 inches, and the length of pull is 13.0 inches.
