Antique 1889 L.C. Smith F-Grade Hammer Gun with 32 in Damascus steel barrels, full (F) chokes, and 2 3/4 in chambers. This U.S.-made side-by-side comes from the Syracuse-to-Fulton transition era and retains hallmark features including exposed hammers, double triggers, and extractor operation. The watertable shows the correct F-grade stamp and the patent mark "PAT'D Mar. 29, 83," underscoring its period configuration and collectible appeal.

    Condition

    Overall Condition: Poor condition.

Bore Overall Condition: Poor - Noticeable dirt, stains, significant corrosion or damage.

Specific Condition Notes: This L.C. Smith side-by-side has clearly seen a lot of years and honest miles, showing heavy signs of age and handling across the board. The barrels carry heavy wear on the metal, along with a significant dent on the left tube that has created a noticeable swell, which is likely to impact patterns and shot consistency. It is missing the extractor pin, which will affect spent shell ejection until replaced. The walnut stock displays numerous dents, dings, and handling marks, with no major cracks or breaks observed.

    What’s Included

    • L.C. Smith F-Grade Hammer Gun (12 Gauge)

This 12 gauge side-by-side is configured with exposed hammers, double triggers, and extractor operation (no ejectors), retaining the traditional layout of L.C. Smith’s hammer guns from the late 19th century. Capacity is two rounds.

The 32 in Damascus steel barrels show the classic twist pattern and are set with a plain rib and front bead. They are choked full (F chokes), aligning with period sporting configurations.

The watertable is marked with the correct F-grade stamp and the patent legend "PAT'D Mar. 29, 83." Built in 1889 in the United States, this example sits in the Syracuse-to-Fulton transition era, an important timeframe for L.C. Smith production and collector interest.

Chambers are 2 3/4 in. Stocking is walnut with a pistol grip, checkered wrist, splinter forend, and matching checkering on the forend. Length of pull measures 14.0 in.
