This National Ordnance Model 1903A3 is a commercial, reproduction 1903A3-pattern bolt-action that has been custom sporterized and rebarreled to .300 Winchester Magnum. It features a 24 in. sporter-contour barrel, a receiver-mounted peep rear sight with no front sight, and a well-appointed walnut Monte Carlo stock with a ventilated Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad. The receiver ring is drilled and tapped for two scope-base holes with no filler screws installed, and the internal box magazine with hinged floorplate is stated to hold 3 rounds of .300 Win. Mag.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.
The wood furniture shows extensive wear with areas of damage. The firearm did not pass the gage test for belted magnum rounds. It is suspected the chamber is not cut deep enough and will require additional gunsmithing to function properly.
What’s Included
- Rifle only (as described)
Built by National Ordnance in the United States, this commercial 1903A3-pattern rifle uses the classic cock-on-open bolt with a Mauser-style claw extractor, dual front locking lugs, and a safety lug. It is a reproduction and has been configured as a sporter, combining traditional 1903A3 design cues with custom hunting-rifle features.
The rifle has been rebarreled and chambered for .300 Winchester Magnum. It wears a 24 in. round, sporter-contour barrel and feeds from an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate. The stated capacity is 3 rounds with this belted magnum cartridge.
Sighting equipment consists of a receiver-mounted peep rear sight, with no front sight or front sight base. The receiver ring has been drilled and tapped for two scope-base holes, and no filler screws are currently installed.
The walnut stock is set up in a Monte Carlo style with a rollover cheekpiece and checkering. It includes white-line spacers, a black fore-end tip, a black grip cap, and sling swivel studs. A ventilated Pachmayr "White Line" recoil pad is installed, with a 13.5 in. length of pull.
Important functional note: a belted-magnum headspace/chamber gage reportedly failed, indicating a likely short chamber. Additional gunsmithing will be required for proper function.
