Product Description

L.C. Smith Field Grade Featherweight .410 Bore Side-by-Side, 28 inch Armor Steel Barrels, Automatic Ejectors, Hunter One Trigger, 3 inch Chambers (1931)

This 1931 L.C. Smith Field Grade Featherweight in .410 Bore pairs scarce chambering with desirable factory features, including automatic ejectors and the Hunter One Trigger single-trigger system. It is a true sidelock with a Featherweight frame marked "FW" and ejectors indicated by the "E" prefix. The 28 inch Armor Steel barrels carry a solid matted rib with a front orange bead and small mid-bead, and the flats are stamped "CHAMBERS 3 INCHES." With .410 Field Grade examples produced in comparatively low numbers (about 2,509 from 1912–1950), this configuration stands out to knowledgeable buyers.

    Condition

Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.

Specific Condition Notes: The top lever rests right of center. Barrel lockup is tight. The automatic ejectors are properly timed. The firing pins function correctly.

    What’s Included

    • L.C. Smith Field Grade Featherweight .410 Bore side-by-side shotgun

Built on the Featherweight frame, this gun is a true sidelock and shows factory-correct markings throughout: "FW" on the frame, "HUNTER ONE TRIGGER" on the tang, "ARMOR STEEL" on the barrels, and rib rollmarks "L.C. SMITH FIELD GRADE" and "HUNTER ARMS CO. INC. M'F'R'S FULTON, N.Y., U.S.A." The ejector configuration is denoted by the "E" prefix. The barrels are additionally stamped "CHAMBERS 3 INCHES" on the flats.

The 28 inch Armor Steel barrels feature a solid matted rib with a front orange bead and a small mid-bead for straightforward alignment. The rib and rollmarks are crisp and legible, and the .410 Bore chambers are 3 inches, offering compatibility with modern .410 3 inch loads within appropriate pressure limits for this vintage platform.

It is configured with the Hunter One Trigger single-trigger system and automatic ejectors, a sought-after pairing on an L.C. Smith field gun. The break-action operates smoothly, and the timed ejectors contribute to efficient reloading on the range or in the field.

The walnut stock set presents classic Field Grade appointments: checkering, pistol grip, and a beavertail forend. An aftermarket ventilated recoil pad has been installed, and the stock is set up with neutral grips and neutral cast. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.

As a 1931 .410 Field Grade, this example represents a comparatively scarce configuration in the L.C. Smith lineup. The combination of Featherweight frame, automatic ejectors, Hunter One Trigger, and 28 inch Armor Steel barrels makes it a compelling, well-marked specimen from Hunter Arms.
