L.C. Smith Field Grade Featherweight 12 Gauge SxS, 30 Inch Barrels, FWS-Prefix Extractor, 2 3/4 Inch Chambers, Full & Improved Modified Chokes
This post-WWII L.C. Smith Field Grade on the Featherweight frame was produced in Fulton, New York by the L.C. Smith Gun Company (Marlin). The FWS-prefix indicates the Featherweight, extractor (non-ejector) configuration. It features 30 inch barrels with a solid, matted rib, fixed Full and Improved Modified chokes, and 2 3/4 inch chambers, with classic splinter forend and pistol-grip walnut stock.
A ventilated recoil pad has been installed.
Condition
Overall Condition: Poor condition.
Bore Overall Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.
There are significant markings and rust from previous handling and use. The top lever sticks and must be pushed closed. One trigger is locked up and will not pull. A screw is missing under the trigger guard. A gunsmith inspection is recommended before use.

Built in the late 1940s era, this Field Grade was made in Fulton, New York, and the barrel legend includes "FULTON N.Y., U.S.A." The FWS-prefix denotes the Featherweight frame and extractor layout, confirming its non-ejector configuration as shipped.
The 30 inch barrels use a solid, matted top rib with a front sight base on the rib. They are fixed-choke with Full in the right barrel and Improved Modified in the left, and the chambers are cut for 2 3/4 inch shells.
The action is a break-action sidelock, hammerless design with a top-tang safety. Capacity is 2 rounds.
Furniture includes a walnut pistol-grip stock with point-pattern checkering and a matching splinter forend. A ventilated recoil pad has been installed, and the length of pull measures 14.5 inches.
