Product Description

    Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 Hex Receiver, Sporterized, 7.62x54R, 22" Barrel

This first-year (1930) Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 from Izhevsk Arsenal features the early hexagonal receiver and Soviet arsenal markings. It has been heavily sporterized with a 22" shortened barrel and an aftermarket ramped front sight with a red insert. Mixed numbers, including a non-matching floorplate, add to its distinct history and configuration.

Key features include the Izhevsk arrow-in-triangle mark and Soviet state emblem, a straight bolt handle with a circular cocking piece, and the classic Mosin-Nagant internal 5-round fixed magazine. The original military upper handguard and barrel bands were removed during the sporterization, resulting in a streamlined, cut-down hardwood stock with a sling slot in the butt.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.

Bore Rifling: Fair Rifling - Worn rifling, slight loss of definition.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle is heavily sporterized. Metal surfaces show numerous scratches, blemishes, and areas of finish wear. The stock has a large repaired crack and a large chip on the right side just behind the receiver. The bore shows dark toning and blemishes, with rifling still visible.

    What's Included

    • Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant Model 1891/30 sporterized bolt-action rifle chambered in 7.62x54R

This 91/30 stands out as a 1930 Izhevsk example with an early hex receiver, marking it as the first production year of the 91/30 pattern. Arsenal markings include the Izhevsk arrow-in-triangle and the Soviet state emblem, providing clear provenance to its origin.

The rifle was extensively sporterized. The hardwood military stock was cut down, the upper handguard and barrel bands were removed, and the barrel was shortened to 22". The butt retains a metal-lined sling slot (with metal escutcheon), and the length of pull measures 13.5". A steel buttplate remains in place.

Sighting is set up with the original military tangent rear sight graduated from 1 to 10, paired with an aftermarket ramped front blade featuring a red insert for visibility. The action is the classic Mosin bolt system with a straight bolt handle and circular cocking piece.

Chambered in 7.62x54R and fed by an internal 5-round fixed magazine, this rifle maintains the core Mosin-Nagant mechanical layout while incorporating sporter modifications. Mixed numbers, including a non-matching floorplate, are present.
