This is a 1944 Izhevsk Arsenal Mosin–Nagant Model 1944 carbine chambered in 7.62x54R, produced during WWII and configured with its integral right-side folding cruciform spike bayonet. It retains classic Soviet markings, a blued barreled action with bolt components left in the white, and the full-length cleaning rod. The carbine features a 20.25 inch barrel and the rugged hardwood stock typical of the M44 pattern.

Bore Rifling: Poor Rifling - Rifling heavily worn or filled with fouling or debris.
The rifle is in solid shape overall, with scattered scratches and blemishes on the metal and wood. Small, scattered patches of pitting are present. The bore is dark and heavily blemished, and the rifling shows notable rust.

Built at Izhevsk Arsenal in 1944, this M44 carbine represents the wartime pattern with a compact 20.25 inch barrel and an internal 5-round magazine with a hinged floorplate and latch. The right-side folding cruciform bayonet is integral to the carbine, locking securely at the muzzle when deployed.
Markings include the Soviet state crest on the barrel shank, the Izhevsk triangle-with-arrow arsenal mark, the 1944g year stamp, inspector and acceptance stamps, and a triangle-with-letter stock cartouche. An importer-applied romanized serial is present on the left side of the receiver.
The barreled action is blued, while the bolt components are left in the white. Sighting equipment consists of a hooded front post and a tangent-leaf rear sight with sliding elevation. Two barrel bands secure the front end, with the rear band spring-retained and the front band positioned behind the bayonet hinge/base, leaving a short span of barrel exposed ahead of the band.
The hardwood stock features a finger groove fore-end, inletted sling slots with metal liners, a steel buttplate, and a stock crossbolt, topped by an upper handguard that runs from the rear sight base to the front barrel band.
